INFINITI’s biggest model has been getting some well-deserved accolades lately. J.D. Power recently named the INFINITI QX80 as one of the Power Quality Contenders for Large Premium SUV on the market today, beating out an impressive list of competitors. The award comes as part of the annual J.D. Power U.S. Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study, which is closely watched by many in the automotive industry.
For the study, J.D. Power contacts vehicle owners and asks them to evaluate 77 unique attributes, providing a well-rounded view of each model. Those responses are used to create an overall APEAL Index score, which involves a 1,000-point scale. INFINITI is proud that the QX80 performed exceptionally well with a score of 877 points for 2019.
More specifically, INFINITI QX80 owners cited the ride/handling qualities of their vehicle, plus its spacious interior and stylish exterior as the top reasons they made the decision to purchase it. That the QX80 beat out some competitors that offer impressive features in those same areas is a testament to the luxury SUV’s overall compelling package.
A number of specific features help make the INFINITI QX80 a real standout among full-size luxury sport utility models. The available INFINITI Hard Drive Navigation System helps drivers easily and accurately find the best way to reach their destination. The optional Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection (MOD) system takes quite a bit of the anxiety of out navigating through tight areas or backing out of driveways. Drivers get a clear view of obstacles that are on every side of the SUV, not only avoiding damaging the body but also preventing injury to anyone walking nearby. The MOD technology immediately sounds an alert if an animal or child were to dart behind the QX80, further increasing everyone’s safety.
Dramatic exterior styling helps the 2019 INFINITI QX80 stand apart from other SUVs. It has distinctly contoured LED headlights, chrome fender vents, plus an overall look that is like no other.
Plenty of comforts can come with the SUV. A Bose Premium Audio System can be added, which has 13 speakers for a full and luxurious sound quality. There’s also a Bose Cabin Surround Sound System with 15 speakers and digital 5.1 decoding, satisfying even the most discerning of listeners.
The interior of the INFINITI QX80 has been designed to deliver comfort for everyone, not just the driver and front passenger. The three rows of seating can accommodate up to eight people at a time, with plenty of legroom and headroom on the third row for even taller adults. Everyone enjoys supple leather upholstery, plus excellent padding that makes even the longest drives pleasant. Noise insulation, including acoustic glass, is used in strategic areas, helping eliminate the drone of freeway travel. Available wood trim pieces and an Ultrasuede headliner further add to the elevated ambiance that places everyone in a sea of luxury.
When it comes to power and capability, the QX80 delivers in a big way. The 5.6-liter V-8 engine hammers out 400 horsepower, which is more than enough to tackle big hills, snowy terrain and freeway onramps with ease. When properly equipped, the vehicle can tow up to 8,500 pounds, which is more than enough to haul most boats, campers and large trailers.
